SK hynix is a global leader in semiconductor solutions, headquartered in South Korea and owned by the SK Group. Founded in 1983 as Hyundai Electronics, it was acquired by SK Group in 2012 and renamed SK hynix. As the world’s second-largest DRAM manufacturer and third-largest NAND Flash supplier, SK hynix excels in memory chip technologies, serving markets including smartphones, servers, PCs, automotive electronics, and artificial intelligence. The company’s core products include dynamic random-access memory (DRAM), NAND Flash, solid-state drives (SSD), and CMOS image sensors. With production facilities in South Korea, China (Wuxi), and the U.S., SK hynix employs over 40,000 people globally. In 2024, its semiconductor revenue reached $42.824 billion, up 86% year-on-year, ranking fourth among global semiconductor companies. Industry-Leading High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) SK hynix pioneered HBM technology and began mass production of the fifth-generation HBM3E in March 2024. With a bandwidth of 1.2TB/s and 30% higher energy efficiency, HBM3E supports AI chips and high-performance computing. Its 12-layer stacking technology, optimized by MR-MUF for heat dissipation and stability, is used in NVIDIA H100 and AMD MI300X AI accelerators. Innovative NAND Flash and AI Optimization 3D NAND Technology: In 2024, SK hynix launched 321-layer 3D NAND Flash, achieving 86% higher bit density for enterprise SSDs and consumer devices. Edge AI Optimization: The PCIe 5.0 x8 SSD "PCB01" (2024) delivers sequential read/write speeds of 14GB/s and 12GB/s, optimized for AI PCs with 30% lower power consumption. Green Manufacturing and Sustainability Committed to carbon neutrality, SK hynix promotes low-power memory solutions. Its Wuxi plant in China uses renewable energy and expanded production capacity in 2023 with U.S. technology approval.
